(2024).&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Hydrochemical sample data for groundwater bores in the LEB-LT region were derived from CSIRO continental scale hydrogeochemistry data release packages for New South Wales (Grey &amp;amp; Bardwell, 2016a), Northern Territory (Grey &amp;amp; Bardwell, 2016b), Queensland (Grey &amp;amp; Bardwell, 2016c) and South Australia (Grey &amp;amp; Bardwell, 2016d)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Not all bores have hydrochemical sample data and this data is not always complete. A screening process was implemented to produce a hydrochemical sample dataset that was used in the discussion of major ion compositions and groundwater types for groundwater bores in the KT-LEB region.             <statement>Hydrochemical sample data for groundwater bores in the LEB-LT region were derived from CSIRO continental scale hydrogeochemistry data release packages for New South Wales (Grey &amp; Bardwell, 2016a), Northern Territory (Grey &amp; Bardwell, 2016b), Queensland (Grey &amp; Bardwell, 2016c) and South Australia (Grey &amp; Bardwell, 2016d).

Groundwater type data were calculated using the Peeters Piper Plotting ArcGIS tool (Peeters, 2014) and the Zenodo excel template to generate data to create hydrochemical plots (Stosch, 2022). The Peeter Piper Plotting tool produces an output with a gradational colour scheme based on the relative abundance of major cations and anions used to calculate groundwater types. The gradational colour scheme while effective at smaller scales was not as effective at spatially visualising the distribution of groundwater types at the continental scales used for the KT-LEB region. 

A customised colour scheme was created to better visualise the groundwater type data at the required continental scale. This customised colour scheme used red, blue and green to differentiate between Cl, HCO3 and SO4 anions respectively. Progressively lighter hues of these three base colours were then used to distinguish between Na, K, Ca and Mg cations: Na having the darkest hue, with progressively lighter hues for Na and Ca, and Mg having the lightest hue. This ArcGIS lyr file contains the symbology formatting data used to create groundwater type spatial distribution visualisation discussed for the KT-LEB region (Evans et al, 2024; page 119).</statement>
