Name: All_Roads

Display Field: NAME

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: These data are best suited to graphical applications. These data may vary greatly in quality depending on the method of capture and digitising specifications in place at the time of capture. All features have been included from the 250K data capture. 250K Specification Description - Dual Carriageway - Divided Highway, Freeway, Tollway, or other road with a physical separation of carriageways via remnant land, significant carriageway height variation or constructed barrier preventing movement of vehicles between carriageways. Each carriageway has opposite directions of traffic flow but the same name and other common core attributes. Standard Road - A route for the movement of vehicles contained within a single carriageway. These roads have sufficient levels of maintenance (eg grading) or construction for two wheel drive access in normal weather conditions for the region. Traffic flow may be one or two way and vehicles are able to cross between traffic lanes freely. Road Connector - An artificial line used to create a crossroad (eg 3 way or more) intersection at a central node of all roads associated with the entry and exit from a roundabout. This is used to maintain network connectivity, path analysis and cartographic generalisation through scales. See Section 3 for more details. Vehicular Track - Vehicular Tracks are public or private roadways of minimum or no construction which are not necessarily maintained. Generally require four wheel drive but may be accessible by two wheel drive in sustained good weather conditions. (Source - http://www.ga.gov.au/mapspecs/topographic/v6/appendixA_files/RoadTransport.html). NOTE - This layer only displays 1:300,000 to 1:70,000 to avoid clutter at the national scale (approx 1:36,000,000). Refer to other Roads layers at different scales for the National Map.
